| EC Chairman calls on Pakatan to register with ROS |
| Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof, the chairman of the EC (Election Commission) has called on the opposition parties, particularly the Pakatan Rakyat to register as a legal party just like the Barisan Nasional so that they will be able to collectively campaign in the election and more so for the upcoming by-election of Bagan Pinang. He said "Register with the Registrar of Societies as Pakatan Rakyat and the EC will not disturb any more," The fact that the Pakatan is not registered resulted in the EC taking down campaigning material at Bagan Pinang where the supporters surrounded the enforcement staff when they attempted to carry out their duties. He added that “The contesting parties in the Bagan Pinang state by-election were PAS and the Barisan Nasional (BN) while the other parties did not pay the deposit and had no permit to campaign. That's why our monitoring team took down the flags, symbols and pictures of the parties which were not contesting. When we take stern action, I hope that they will accept it with open hearts. Our vehicle was stopped. We were verbally abused and money was shoved at our faces. I was frightened to look at their faces and worried for our safety, like the vehicle being overturned," |
